First-year master’s students majoring in Uzbek Language and Literature at Namangan State Pedagogical Institute organised an educational and academic event to mark Uzbek Language Day. The event aimed to promote the mother tongue as an essential expression of national identity, spiritual values and rich cultural heritage, while strengthening respect and appreciation for the mother tongue among the younger generation.

The event was attended by R. Tillayeva, Head of the Department of Philology; M. Payziboyeva, Associate Professor of the Department; Sh. Ermatova, Senior Lecturer of the Department; and Sh. Khojamberdiyeva, Professor of the Department of Preschool Education. In their presentations, they shared their views on the role of the mother tongue in society, its development, and the responsibility of preserving its purity and passing it on to future generations.

During the event, special attention was given to the historical significance of the Law “On the State Language”, adopted on 21 October 1989. The adoption of this law was recognised as an important historical milestone in granting the Uzbek language the status of the state language, strengthening national identity, and enhancing the position of the mother tongue in the country’s social and political life. It was also emphasised that promoting the prestige of the state language, expanding its use in education, science and other areas of public life, observing language standards, and preserving its purity are the moral responsibilities of every citizen.

The academic and educational event also featured a variety of artistic performances. The master’s students recited poems dedicated to the mother tongue and performed musical pieces and songs. These performances created an uplifting atmosphere among the participants and further strengthened their love for their mother tongue, as well as their sense of national pride and dignity. The artistic performances reflected the beauty and rich expressive potential of the Uzbek language, along with its invaluable place in the centuries-old history and spiritual heritage of the Uzbek people.

At the conclusion of the event, it was emphasised that cherishing the mother tongue, making effective use of its rich expressive resources, further enhancing the status of the Uzbek language in academic and creative activities, and instilling respect for the language in future generations are among the most important responsibilities.

This academic and educational event contributed to showcasing the intellectual and creative potential of the master’s students, promoting national values, and strengthening respect and appreciation for the Uzbek language.
