A MODERN TEXTBOOK IS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR IN PROVIDING QUALITY EDUCATION AND TRAINING COMPETITIVE SPECIALISTS
Today, bringing the education system in our country to a new level, updating the content of higher education in line with modern requirements, and training competitive specialists with modern knowledge remains one of the priority directions of state policy.
At the video conference dedicated to "Teachers' and Mentors' Day," the question posed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev regarding the compliance of textbooks and educational literature in higher education institutions with today's requirements — "How well does the content of university textbooks match today's demands?" — is extremely relevant and clearly articulated an important task facing the system.
This question, first of all, prompts every faculty member to take a critical look at their own work and to reconsider the content of the textbooks, study guides, and methodological materials they use.
Today's student is not limited to yesterday's knowledge. In a situation where science and technology are developing very rapidly, and fields such as artificial intelligence, digital technologies, big data, cloud computing, virtual and augmented reality, and robotics are fundamentally changing the content of education and professional activity, textbooks also require constant updating.
We should, first of all, accept the critical remarks made by our President regarding the content of higher education textbooks as a clear assignment and a great opportunity for updating educational content. Educational literature should not remain merely a collection of theoretical knowledge.
A modern educational text should:
reflect the latest trends in science and production;
comply with international scientific and educational standards;
develop students' practical competencies;
be integrated with digital and interactive learning opportunities;
develop skills in independent thinking, analyzing problem situations, and decision-making;
demonstrate the possibilities of wisely using artificial intelligence and modern digital tools;
be integrated with local educational practice and national pedagogical experience.
This issue is especially important for pedagogical institutions of higher education. Because today's pedagogical higher education institution trains not only a specialist who is acquiring knowledge, but also a teacher who will in the future influence the learning of thousands of students.
Therefore, the content of every textbook and study guide used in training teaching staff must keep pace with modern science, pedagogical technologies, and digital transformation processes.
