“ The authority of a teacher is the authority of the nation and the authority of the state.”
03 October 2026
“Unless the status and value of teachers are elevated, there can be no development or quality in any field.”
In recent years, particularly in Uzbekistan, October 1 — Teachers’ and Mentors’ Day — has become not merely a celebration of gratitude, but also an important date demonstrating how highly the prestige and significance of the teaching profession are valued in our society.
The high level of attention given to teachers in the holiday messages addressed by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has brought great encouragement to teachers across the country. The opportunities and benefits created for teachers also place an even greater responsibility on future educators.
The following are some examples of these opportunities:
1. Support for children of teachers with 15 years of professional experience
Measures of state support have been introduced for the children of teachers with the required years of service in accessing higher education. In particular, from the 2026/2027 academic year, a 30 percent discount on the basic tuition fee has been introduced for children of teachers who are admitted to and studying at state higher education institutions.
This represents significant state support not only for teachers themselves, but also for their families and the future of their children.
“If you work as a teacher, the state creates opportunities for your children to receive higher education as well. This means additional support and financial stability for the teacher’s family.”
2. Additional payments for teachers holding national and international certificates
Teachers who hold relevant certificates receive financial incentives. In particular, additional payments are provided for certain national and international certificates, with the amount depending on the type and level of certification.
Thus, a teacher’s efforts to expand their knowledge and improve their professional qualifications are supported not only through recognition, but also through financial incentives.
“Today, obtaining a certificate in a foreign language or in your subject area expands your professional opportunities. The state supports your knowledge and commitment to professional growth.”
3. Recognition and rewards for leading teachers
Every year, leading and high-performing teachers in the country’s districts and cities receive additional recognition and financial incentives. In 2026, rewards are also planned for leading teachers in 208 districts and cities.
“Regardless of which district you work in, if you continuously improve yourself and achieve strong results, your work can receive appropriate recognition and support.”
The teaching profession is one of the most honorable professions and plays a decisive role in shaping the future. By making effective use of the opportunities being created and becoming highly qualified specialists in our field, we can make a significant contribution to the future of Uzbekistan.
